2008 Commissioner's Cup a Smashing Success
Jamie Nicholls and the DAPPP Executive Committee are pleased to announce that the 2008 Commissioner's Cup was a great success! Both the men's and women's events saw new contenders take the title, as Oliver Marach took the men's event over Coulter Wright, and Sonja Jeyaseelan took out Lenore Hodgson on the women's side.
The DAPPP Executive Committee is very happy to announce that we were able to contribute $6,000 to Second Harvest as our charity partner for the Commissioner's Cup. See below for a quote from a letter received from Second Harvest:
On behalf of Second Harvest I would like to send out a big thank you for everything you have done for us, and our recipients. We were blown away with your donation of $6,000 (that’s enough money to provide 12,000 meals – an amazing achievement).
I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed your event. So thank you again – you guys are great!
Second Harvest is a Toronto charity that distributes fresh food from those with excess to those without. (www.secondharvest.ca) The DAPPP Executive Committee hopes all of the friends of the DAPPP continue to support Second Harvest on an ongoing basis, whenever possible.
The latest rankings have been released and posted, and to see how you stack up against the competition after the Commissioner's Cup, check out the Rankings as of February 1, 2008.
The DAPPP events are a great success thanks to the efforts of its' attendees to abide by our dress code policies. The Commissioner's Cup was a great example of how this can be done to its best, and was wholeheartedly embraced by all the attendees. See Pictures for many examples of both Hilarious Formal Wear and White Clothing while on court.
Stay tuned for update regarding the Matt Smith Invitational, which will most likely be occurring in October of 2008.
